Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

This page explains what personal information ArloWebStudio collects, why, and what your rights are. ArloWebStudio is an independent web design studio run by Jamie, based in Hythe, Kent, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, I'm the "data controller" for the information described here. For anything in this policy, contact me at hello@arlowebstudio.com or 01303 696 881.

The short version: I only collect what I need to reply to your enquiry and do the work. I don't sell your data, I don't run advertising or tracking cookies on this site, and you can ask me to show you, correct, or delete what I hold at any time.

What I collect

When you send an enquiry through the contact form, I collect the details you give me: your name and email (required), and — if you choose to add them — your business name, a referral code, your current website address, and whatever you write in your message. I also keep a record of the consent you give when you submit the form.

Like almost any website, my web server also keeps standard technical logs — such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit — which help keep the site running, secure, and free from abuse.

Cookies

This site doesn't use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies, so there's no tracking for which the law would require a consent pop-up. It only uses cookies that are strictly necessary for the site or your enquiry to work, if any. If I ever add analytics or anything similar in future, I'll add proper cookie controls at that point.

How I use your information, and why

I use your enquiry details to reply to you, give you advice and a price, and — if you decide to go ahead — to carry out and manage your project. The legal basis for this is your consent (the box you tick on the form) together with my legitimate interest in responding to someone who has contacted my business. I use the technical logs on the basis of my legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and working. I won't use your details for marketing unless you've separately agreed to it.

Who I share it with

I don't sell your information or share it for anyone else's marketing. To run the studio I rely on a small number of trusted service providers — for example website hosting, email, and tools that let me receive and manage enquiries. These act on my instructions as "processors" and only handle your data to provide their service to me.

This site also loads no third-party tracking or advertising. Some of the providers I use to run the studio (such as email) may process data outside the UK; where that happens, it's done under the safeguards UK data protection law requires.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiry information only as long as I need it — to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards, in case you come back or for my own records — and then delete it. As a guide, I keep enquiry messages for up to 24 months. If we go on to work together, I keep project records for as long as I need them for our working relationship and any legal or tax obligations.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask me to: show you the information I hold about you; correct anything that's wrong; delete it; restrict or object to how I use it; or provide it in a portable format. Where I rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To do any of this, just email hello@arlowebstudio.com and I'll sort it.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

This site and my services are aimed at businesses, not children, and I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If I change how I handle personal information, I'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
